Pagatpat Seafood Restaurant – Matalom, Leyte

On a weekend, the family decided to go to Matalom, Leyte and try Pagatpat Seafood Restaurant. This restaurant has been recommended to me by a friend but I really haven’t had the time until last Sunday.

Pagatpat is located at Sta. Fe, Matalom, Leyte. If you traveled from Bato, you will pass the Matalom Municipal Hall and Kan-anan sa Superball, which used to be one of the busiest ports when you go to Canigao Island. However, the local government unit (LGU) of Matalom decided that all tourists and boats going to the said island will now be at one port, which is at the back of the municipal hall.

Upon arriving, a huge arched signage of the restaurant will welcome you.

Trivia: Pagatpat is a mangrove species, which will you see when entering the restaurant.

At the left side is the order area.

You can also see a series of raw fishes, seashells, crustaceans, and squids.

It would have been better if we can see live fishes ready for cooking.

We decided to order their group meal (budol), which is at PhP 1,200 inclusive of drinks (iced tea or cola).  This is good for 5-7 persons (well depending on how hungry your group is haha!). It’s quite economical since drinks are already included. In Cebu City, most budol group meals that are at PhP 1,200 is only good for 2-3 persons without the drinks. So it’s sulit!

Food is great. We even ordered additional puso (hanging rice) since the rice that was included on the meal was not enough for our hungry appetite! Haha! Leftovers can also be brought home. Sweet!

Apart from the food, diners can also take advantage of the fresh breeze and fantastic views. You can see Canigao Island when you dine at Pagatpat Seafood Restaurant.

One thing I just don’t like is that their water supply isn’t functioning so it’s a hassle when washing your hands. But all in all, it was a great dining experience! Must-visit for its views and food! So, when you are planning to  go to Canigao Island, try Pagatpat.
